The low prices are not a coincidence or a loss leader myth. Costco purchases fuel in massive bulk quantities, operates high-volume pumps with minimal staffing, and deliberately keeps margins razor-thin to drive membership sign-ups. The fuel is Top Tier certified, meeting the same quality standards as Shell, Esso, and Petro-Canada — so you are not sacrificing quality for price.

The biggest trade-off is wait time. Costco gas bars are notoriously busy, especially on weekends and evenings. Depending on your location, you might wait 5 to 15 minutes in line.
